Sometimes referred to as a “press kit” a media kit showcases you and what you’ve accomplished. Do you need one? If you’re a blogger then yes. Having your statistics and experiences displayed clearly for prospective partners will only benefit you. This is your chance to show off all your hard work so don’t sell yourself short.
So, on to your Media kit must haves: Your bio – Nobody wants to hear your life story (not in this case anyway!) so keep it short and sweet. Take this opportunity to tell prospective partners who you are, what your blog is all about and what makes you unique. Include a head shot - a good clear photo of yourself with proper lighting and composition will make the world of difference.
Your blog statistics – Run Google Analytics if you aren’t already, it’ll make it a lot easier to include your monthly unique visitors and pages views per month. Include Readership/Audience demographics as well, prospective partners will want to see the audience you’re reaching to determine if it correlates with their target market. Location, gender, age group and interests should all be included and any other stats you think will be relevant. Your Social Media Statistics - Your social media reach can help to verify your credibility and plays a key role in what companies you will end up partnering or collaborating with. Include any social media platforms that you’re present on. In the Press – If you’ve been lucky enough to have been featured in a magazine or tabloid, on TV or featured on another website include links and pictures. If you haven’t, it’s not an issue but when you do don’t forget to update your media kit! Under this same umbrella you might want to include past collaborations you’ve worked on. This little extra may set you apart from others.
Contact Information – Having your contact information clearly displayed is very important, you can miss out on opportunities if its missing and double check the details are correct, you’ll kick yourself if they’re not.
Just remember you aren’t restricted to a certain format or layout so be creative with it, base your design to include all these things you’re on to a winner. We've put together a FREE media kit you can download and edit yourself just click the link.
